As the new political season gets underway with the UK party conferences the Scottish Fabians are planning a series of autumn and winter events.
There’s more than ever to discuss after an exhausting and turbulent year so far for Labour, here in Scotland and across the UK, including the continued rise of the Scottish independence movement, Scottish Labour’s catastrophic General Election, and Jeremy Corbyn’s unexpected ascent to the leadership.
We’re planning a series of seminars discussing the future of primary, secondary and further education, with the first to take place at the Scottish Labour conference to be held in Perth from 30 October to 1 November.
We’ll be organising two further events at the conference, informal discussions on the role of storytelling and narrative in contemporary politics, and the way forward for the building of a new Scottish Labour electoral coalition.
We also plan to organise another Christmas Dinner following last year’s enjoyable event with Jack McConnell, with our AGM will follow in the New Year.
We’ll be sending confirmation of the dates, venues and details of all of these events through email, our website and our Twitter channel. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the next few weeks and months.
